Many ski resorts have blackout dates for their holidays. But Diamond Peak reversed the trend this winter by launching a season pass good for holiday skiing. The pass provides an option for those who can only get to the mountains on holidays.
Diamond Peak's new Holiday Pass, which costs $249, is for all ages. It is valid on 28 holiday dates this winter that include the Christmas holidays, Martin Luther King weekend, and Presidents' Day weekend. It is valid Dec. 19-Jan. 3, Jan. 16-18, and Feb. 13-21. The pass pays for itself in six days of skiing or riding for adults.
Those flying to the Tahoe area to ski can also get a 50 percent discount on rental equipment for the first day by showing a boarding pass. Some restrictions apply to the discount. The boarding pass must include arriving at the Reno/Tahoe or Sacramento airports between December 2009 and April 2010.
Skiers and riders who have season passes at other resorts can also purchase reduced lift tickets at Diamond Peak. Season passholders from other resorts can purchase lift tickets during the holidays and all other days for $25.
The resort plans to open for the season Dec. 10. Opening day is also Community Appreciation Day when locals who live within a 50-mile radius of Diamond Peak can purchase $20 all-day lift tickets.
