Cowboys and Christmas go hand in hand in Steamboat. The ski area has the holiday season planned with special dining events, concerts, a torchlight parade, and fireworks.

Holiday dining includes evening dinners on top of the mountain. Ride the gondola under the stars for dinner at Hazie's, or the Western BBQ in the gondola building. Take a sleigh ride to Ragnar's restaurant for a candlelight Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve dinner. A special menu is being designed to complement the holiday. Reservations are recommended.

The Steamboat Ski & Snowboard School treats tourists and locals to a spectacular torchlight parade on New Year's Eve followed by fireworks.

The Christmas week celebrations start Saturday, Dec. 19, with a concert by Nashville star Brent Rowan and renowned performers Linda Davis, Hillary Scott, and Lang Scott. The show is called "A Reason For The Season," and a portion of the proceeds are donated to a local charity.

The U.S. Olympic Trials in Freestyle & Nordic Combined are also in Steamboat Christmas week. The Nordic Combined will be at historic Howelsen Hill in downtown Steamboat, and the freestyle aerials and moguls will be at the Steamboat Ski Area. The best male and female skiers in each freestyle discipline (best male in Nordic Combined) will be named to the U.S. Olympic team, representing the United States in 2010.
