Resorts are encouraging women all over the Wasatch to get together and get out skiing. Perhaps you need a little more than a date in your day planner to motivate. Camps just for women who want to learn or improve their skills like those at Alta want you.

The Women's Ski Camp, Dec. 3-7, provides a positive coaching environment where participants can break through plateaus to reach the next level of skiing. it's all packaged together at the historic Alta Lodge, with women instructors from Alta's Alf Engen Ski School, ski equipment, lodging, breakfasts, and dinners. Beginning skiers will learn how to stop, turn, and control their speed during the three-day camp.  Intermediate ladies will sharpen their skiing skills and gain confidence on blue slopes.  Women will love the terrain for new and improving skiers at Alta, with 25 percent beginner runs and 40 percent intermediate runs.  The group builds camaraderie with gatherings in the Sitzmark, Alta Lodge's historic ski bar after skiing, and dinners and breakfasts in the Alta Lodge restaurant.  Participants will also have time to relax and recharge with a massage, sauna, hot pool or afternoon tea.The camp is for women ages 18 and older, and includes four nights lodging, breakfast, and dinner daily, three full days of ski instruction, three days of skiing at Alta and three days of ski equipment rental. The camp costs $1,349 per person for beginning skiers and $1,457 per person for intermediate skiers, standard room, double occupancy.

Alta Lodge Women's Ski Camp for Intermediate and Advanced Skiers, now in its fourth year, is scheduled for Jan. 21-25, 2010.

Snowbird has its own women's camp for intermediates through experts, ages 16 and up. The three or four days of skiing in the company of other women is coached by women. Dates are Jan. 15-18 and March 7-11, 2010. Locals pay $500-800 for on-hill coaching, video analysis, meals and receptions. The all-inclusive price (lodging, lifts, etc.) starts at $1,149.

Deer Valley Resort doesn't have a women's camp per se but offers the Exclusively for Women Wednesdays and weekends. Women bond with other women of the same ability zone while improving their skills. These programs are specifically designed for women and conducted by Deer Valley's top female ski instructors. The five consecutive full-day Wednesdays start on Jan. 13 and $655 (not including lift tickets). A three-day weekend either Jan. 29 - 31 or Mardh 5 - 7, 2010 costs $515. Advance reservations are necessary.
