Shawnee Mountain Ski Area in Pennsylvania has just posted its online reservation page for children's learning programs. Five different programs are offered for various age groups and reservations are required.

The Skibaby program is for children 3 years old and younger. Mommy and Me includes a private lesson for 3-year-olds and a guardian. The lessons are one hour.

SKIwee caters to children between the ages of 4 and 6. Mountain Cruisers teaches skiing and Young Riders teaches snowboarding to youths between 7 and 15 years of age.  Lessons are three hours long with separate sessions held 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.. A snack is included with the three-hour sessions. The Mountain Cruiser group can opt for a morning or afternoon session or both. Lunch is included if both sessions are selected.

Programs cost $90 per session or $225 for three sessions. The all-day Mountain Cruiser package is $125. SKIwee, Mountain Cruiser, and Young Riders packages include a youth lift ticket, ski or snowboard rentals, use of the exclusive beginner's area, and three hours of instruction.

"We see between 5,000 and 6,200 children each year," said Robin Daneker, director of the children's programs. "Our child-to-instructor ratios are four-to-one for SKIWee and Young Riders and six-to-one for the Mountain Cruisers."
