SolVista Basin at Granby Ranch is easy to access and easy for families. Prices are affordable and the mountain has all levels of runs available. The easy part is the base area. All runs channel in to the base area lodge. It means Mom and Dad can take an intermediate run and the kids can tear it up on the cruisers. Everyone ends up back at the base area together.
Night skiing and tubing is offered Saturday nights, Dec. 26 to March 27, 5 to 8 p.m. Tubing tickets are $10, or a combo ticket is $15. SolVista also has a free Snow Play Park for kids, free sledding area, and free cross country skiing. The parking lot is paved and it is free too.
SolVista has a vertical drop of 1,000 feet, and 406 acres for skiing and riding. It is just outside of Winter Park and 78 miles from Denver. It has also always been a popular place for youth groups and teen groups. The area is scheduled to open Dec. 16.
SolVista is about 15 minutes out of town. The Hot Sulphur Springs Resort has 22 natural hot spring pools as well as a full-service spa. It's a perfect spot for that after-ski soak.
