Visitors to Crystal Mountain this winter will see a few changes at the resort. The resort is adding a new test center for demos and has upgraded the slopes with several projects.
Crystal Mountain is entering the equipment business with skis, snowboards and boots now for sale. Two outlets will carry Rossignol, Dynastar and Lange gear for sale and demo. The new mountaintop RDL Test Center, reached via the gondola and the Rainier Express, will operate as a retail shop with demos available.
The Mountain Shop in the base area will carry the Rossignol, Dynastar and Lange equipment for sale and demo, too. The shop will also offer bootfitting services.
Demo ski or snowboard packages cost $60. Boards or skis only cost $48 to demo. When trying demos, you can test several different types of skis or boards.

The rental shop turned over equipment for this winter, too. The new fleet of rentals is comprised of Head skis. The shop was also remodeled in order to provide a smoother flow.
Other upgrades will improve the slopes. Four new snow guns now line the Green Valley ridge to provide snowmaking for Green Valley. The snowmaking installation is intended to add on a consistent spring ski season.
The resort also added one new Pisten Bully groomer. The cat will work the black diamond Otto Bahn run nightly. Tree limbing and stump removal will open up Upper Exterminator and Bull Run.
The resort purchased five new cabins for the Mt. Rainier Gondola. However, the cabins won’t arrive until spring. But they will add more uphill capacity for summer sightseers and next winter’s skiers and riders.
