Waterville Valley is honoring the Olympic Games by offering three "Learn to Ski and Ride Weekends" this winter. They are Dec. 12-13, Jan. 9-10, and March 20-21.
Each weekend features Olympic $21 Learn to Ski and Ride Specials, which include a beginner lesson, ski and snowboard rentals, and a beginner area lift ticket for the day.
The packages are for ages 7 and up. New skiers and snowboarders receive a Waterville Valley Learn to Ski/Ride Pocket Guide with incentives to return for more. Students who complete three days of lessons receive a Love to Ski/Ride Pass which provides 50 percent off lessons, rentals, and lift tickets for the rest of the season.
The Waterville Valley Nordic Center is offering $21 Learn to Cross Country Ski Weekend Jan. 9-10, with a beginner lesson, equipment, and trail pass.
"We thought it would be really fun and fitting to create a few festive weekends to get people out on the slopes and give skiing and snowboarding a try. It's also a great way to bring attention to and honor the Olympic athletes who got their start at Waterville Valley," Pete Weber, Waterville snowsports director, said. These athletes include resort founder Tom Corcoran, 1960 Olympian, and current candidates for the U.S. Olympic Team Michelle Gorgone, Hannah Kearney, Kris Freeman, and Dylan Ferguson.
