Samoens will be opening a new high-tech, six-seater ski lift this Christmas, the ‘Chariande Express'.

The state-of-the-art Chariande Express will transport skiers and boarders from the Saix Plateau (1600m) to the Tete des Saix (2120m) in just nine minutes, compared to 25 minutes previously.

The Chariande Express, which replaces two old chairlifts and drag, will now offer skiers a direct non-stop link between altitudes of 1600 metres and 2120 metres. It also offers an increased capacity with the ability to transport 3000 people per hour.

The Chariande Express is just one of the two new lifts in the Grand-Massif ski area this winter; the other is a similar six-seater in Les Molliets.

The ski area of Samoens ranges from 800 to 2220 metres altitude and it is accessible to all, from beginners to experts. From the Tete des Sais, skiers can access the Grand Massif ski area (700-2500m) with its 265 kilometres of pistes (42 green runs, 140 blue, 132 red, and 37 black).

The Grand Massif ski area combines the resorts of Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoens, and Sixt Fer a Cheval. Freestyle fans will also find a total of five snow and terrain parks.
