Snowjet, the ski flight specialist, has started selling direct flights from London Stansted to Sion Airport in the popular Swiss Valais region.

Snowjet's Sion flights are the only scheduled services from the UK. Passengers flying direct to Sion will benefit from time-saving advantages. Verbier is just 35-40 minutes away compared to two hours from Geneva. Sion is also the fastest route to Zermatt, Saas-Fee, Crans Montana, Nendaz, and Veysonnaz.

In addition, Sion handles a relatively low volume of passengers, which means skiers don't have a long wait at baggage reclaim or at check-in, enabling them to spend longer on the slopes.

Snowjet Managing Director David Lacy said: "Our new direct flights to Sion are already proving extremely popular with advance bookings doing very well. Flights are selling so well at February half-term and Easter that we have already added extra departures."

Snowjet's new scheduled Sion flights, operated by parent company Titan Airways' BAE 146-200 jets, are configured with just 80 seats and a seat pitch of 32 inches, providing passengers with extra leg room and comfort.

The flights will start operating twice-weekly every Saturday and Sunday from Dec. 19, 2009 through to April 18, 2010, departing London Stansted at 10 a.m and arriving in Sion at 1 p.m. From Sion, departures are at 2 p.m, arriving London Stansted at 3 p.m.

David continued: "We have some great deals at Christmas and New Year and in January you can fly from only £49 one-way including taxes and a free 20kgs baggage allowance."

Snowjet also offers flights from Gatwick, Stansted, Bristol, and Manchester to Chambery, near the top French resorts of Meribel, Val d'Isere, and Courchevel.
