Sugar Mountain's SugarFest is turning into a star-studded affair with Olympic silver medalist Paul Wylie joining fellow former Olympians Diann Roffe and Kim Schmidinger for the weekend festivities Dec. 11-13. Wylie will perform Saturday, Dec.12 on Sugar's ice rink. Roffe and Schmidinger will be guest coaches for adult learning clinics 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Roffe won silver and gold medals for alpine skiing. 

It's all part of Sugar's 40th anniversary celebration. The official anniversary party starts at 5 p.m. Saturday in the base lodge where ice cream, cake, and other refreshments will be served. Fireworks will follow.

Salomon, Volkl, Nordica, Burton, Head, Never Summer, K2, Atomic, Dynastar, Rossignol, Ride, Line Fischer, and Forum will have product available for demos.  Participants need to show a credit card and driver's license.  

The resort plans to be open for general skiing and snowboarding and tubing if the weather cooperates. Additional activities are planned regardless of Mother Nature that are geared toward families . There is a snowball eating contest  at 3 p.m. Saturday. An after ski and snowboard party featuring Boss Hawg is set 4 - 7 p.m. Fireworks start 5:45 p.m. after the 40th anniversary party. Sunday highlights include a 10 a.m. ice sculpting demonstration, and a noon Burton Rail Jam session at noon.
