Ober Gatlinburg in Tennessee takes snowboard tricks seriously. The resort has beefed up its terrain park offerings with a 15-foot flat rail and a 16-foot flat down box. Locations of its tricks locales will change depending on snowmaking during the season.

The terrain park complements the resort's eight trails serviced by four lifts including two quad chairs. The resort's mountain rises from 2,700 feet to 3,300 feet.

An arial tramway can transport people from the town of Gatlinburg to the resort but there is a charge. It costs $10 for adults and $8.50 for children 7 - 11 years old. There is no charge for the tram or for skiing for children six years old or younger and it is not necessary to take the tram.

Senior lift ticket prices start at age 50 rather than the more typical 65 years of age. Senior and junior (7 - 11) tickets cost $20 for unlimited skiing or riding. The regular adult lift price is $30. Season passes are available for $299.

Don't worry about not having proper attire. Ober Gatlinburg rents clothes. Jackets and pants cost $12. Helmets are $8. The resort plans to open in December, but no firm date has been set.
