Wild Mountain, the popular day-trip ski area located east of the Twin Cities along the St. Croix River valley has opened for the season -- the first in the Midwest. Wild opened with one intermediate run, Expressway, and one chairlift. More runs will be added as quickly as weather allows allows, says Wild Mountain's Amy Frischmon.
Lift tickets are currently $16, and Wild plans on remaining open Monday through Thursday 4-8 p.m. each day. Plans for Friday and beyond will be determined by the weather.
Wild was the first Midwest area to open last season, but it was in late october.. This is in keeping with the area's long tradition. Wild has been one of, if not the first, ski areas to open in the Heartland for the last 34 years. Midwest skiers and riders will want to follow OnTheSnow.com's snow condition reports all season long.
