The Tahoe Adventure Film Festival (TAFF) throws a fast-paced series of film shorts at audiences to benefit the Sierra Avalanche Center. The evening event, presented by Kirkwood, takes place Dec. 12 at Montbleu Resort, Casino, and Spa in South Lake Tahoe.

The evening showcases action sports films designed to jazz up a lust for adventure. Footage is narrowed down to the top 10 film submissions with each filmmaker producing a special 10- to 12-minute clip or segment to be premiered at the festival. The full-length films will also be available for purchase from the filmmakers.

"Forget sitting around for days in tiny theaters and searching film premiers for the best action and adventure of the season," says Todd Offenbacher, TAFF founder and event. "We put together a line-up of the best films of the year and showcase them in one night of energy, excitement and fun." The night also includes special guest speakers, action photo displays, break-dancers, go-go dancers, and DJs.

TAFF has partnered this year with the Sierra Avalanche Center to host the biggest raffle in the event's history. Prizes include Lake Tahoe resort season passes, a trip with Points North Heli Adventures, an afternoon with Pacific Crest Snowcats, and gear.

This year's event opens at 6:30 p.m. with an action sports photography display from Aurora Photos followed by the main event at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, which cost $20, are available online at or at the Montbleu Resort, Casino, and Spa Box Office.
