Info: More Information

Norway is offering excellent snow conditions and early resort openings for eager snow sports fans.

Following heavy snowfall in November, the resorts of Geilo, Hemsedal, and Trysil have all opened ahead of the official start of the season. Regular dustings of snow have maintained good conditions: Geilo has 35cm, Hemsedal has 65cm, and Trysil 35cm.

The resorts are not yet operating at full capacity: Geilo has three lifts and pistes open; Hemsedal has one lift and two pistes; and Trysil has two lifts and pistes open.

While skiing in Norway is still somewhat limited in terms of how many slopes are open, cross-country skiers are enjoying plenty of open trails: Trysil has 10 kilometres of open tracks, three kilometres of which are illuminated; Hemsedal has 23 kilometres of open tracks, 10 kilometres of which are illuminated; and Geilo has 45 kilometres of open tracks.

Geilo is one of Norway's most popular ski resorts. It officially opens for the winter season Nov. 20. Geilo features 40 well groomed pistes linked by 20 lifts and floodlit skiing four evenings a week. There is also a new, extended terrain park with a challenging rail line, big jump, mogul run and lighting for evenings.
