Copper Mountain's superpipe will be the site of the best snowboarders in the world for the U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix, Dec. 11-22. It is the first Olympic qualifying event for snowboarding halfpipe in the country. All the top boarders will be there including Olympic gold medalist Shaun White. Some of the action will be under the lights and it will all be exciting to watch.

Copper's 22-foot pipe, which is regulation for the Olympics, has been the first to open in North America for five years in a row. It's perfect for spectators as it is just steps away from the Village at Copper and Burning Stones Plaza, at the base.

"Copper delivered an outstanding Grand Prix for us last year with an amazing pipe. It brings an incredible snowmaking capacity, and an ability and commitment to build an early season pipe," said USSA Vice President Calum Clark.

It is the second year in a row that Copper has hosted the event in addition to 1998 and 1999. Copper isn't the only stop on the 2010 U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix tour. There are three stops in the 14th season of the event. The tour goes to Mammoth Mountain in California, Jan. 7-10, and then to Park City Mountain Resort, the venue for the 2002 Olympics, to announce the 2010 Olympic halfpipe team. The Park City event is Jan. 22-23.
