Advent season in the 10 resorts of the Alpbachtal Seenland holiday region is celebrated with numerous events which take place between Nov. 28 and Dec. 29, 2009.

Traditional festivities include original Advent markets; the Rattenberg Advent; the Brixlegg Christmas market and farmers' market; the St. Nicholas and Christ Child Procession, and the age-old custom of the wonderfully gruesome Perchten Processions, which encourage viewers to ‘touch and marvel'.

The Brandenberg Advent Market takes place Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13, and 20 at 12 p.m. This is a Christmas market in the extensive garden of the Kaiserhaus which will house many stalls selling culinary specialities, mulled wine, traditional handicrafts, Christmas tree decorations, and gifts. Musicians will play typical Advent music and groups will play the nativity scene. A particular highlight will be a sleigh ride to the Kaiser Gorge.

The Rattenberg Advent Market takes place Nov. 28, Dec. 5, 8, 12, and 19. It is one of the Tyrol's most beautiful and romantic events and takes place in the medieval town of Rattenberg. Warm candlelight illuminates the town and visitors will enjoy Christmas carols, steaming Advent wine, hot ‘Krapfen', and Tirolean delicacies. From 2 p.m the children's programme takes place with baking, stories, blowing Christmas baubles, and pony riding.

The Alpbachtal Seenland region is made up of the 10 resorts of Alpbach, Brandenberg, Breitenbach, Brixlegg, Kramsach, Kundl, Muenster, Radfeld, Rattenberg, and Reith im Alpbachtal.
