Thanksgiving weekend at Sugar Mountain in North Carolina can only mean one thing. It's time for the Turkey Treat. What is it? Ski or ride any one session each of four days - Nov. 26 to Nov. 29. The cost is $109. The long holiday weekend is as good a time as any to celebrate Sugar's 40th anniversary. Numerous specials, such as the Turley Treat, are planned to commemorate the milestone throughout the winter of 2009 -10.
If uncooperative weather prevents Sugar Mountain from being open Thanksgiving weekend, then the offer is good for four non-holiday weekend sessions.
Slope side lodging at Sugar makes it easy to celebrate the holiday or any visit. At press time the Sugar Ski and Country Club accommodations include two bedoom, two bath condos in the $500 - $550 range for a three-night stay. Master bedrooms feature a queen size bed. A guest bedroom includes two twins and a queen pullout. A fully equipped kitchen, fireplaces, and TVs in each room flesh out the units.
The Turkey Treat offer expires 5 p.m. Nov. 22. Sugar opened in 1967 with four lifts and seven slpoes. It now boasts seven lifts and 20 slopes.
