Granlibakken won't be operating their small ski hill until December, but the Lake Tahoe lodge is running a Thanksgiving dining and lodging package to launch the holiday season. You can stay at Granlibakken to ski or snowboard several other Lake Tahoe ski areas that plan to open by Thanksgiving weekend.

The Granlibakken package includes lodging in a suite that sleeps four people, breakfast, and Thanksgiving dinner. Lodging is in a one-bedroom fireplace suite that includes cable television with VCR and/or DVD and wireless Internet access, and guests can lounge in the resort's heated outdoor pool, hot tub, and sauna.

A hot breakfast for four people is included, along with Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner, which is served family-style, features turkey carved at your table with all the trimmings and vegetarian options. The restaurant even wraps up your leftovers to take back to the condo.

The pricing for the package, which is based on mid-week rates, requires a minimum of four people. It costs $95 per person per day.

Larger lodging options-up to a five-bedroom condo-are also available for big families and groups. Add on the Thanksgiving dinner at $30 for adults and $15 for children 12 years old and younger.

At least six Lake Tahoe area ski resorts plan to be open for the Thanksgiving weekend: Mt. Rose, Squaw Valley, Heavenly, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Boreal, and Sugar Bowl. More ski areas may open should conditions permit. Check on the status for all Tahoe resorts on OnTheSnow.com.
