Squaw Valley U.S.A. lines up a series of events over the Thanksgiving weekend to launch the holiday season. Family activities not only include skiing and snowboarding at the resort but Thanksgiving dinners with turkey and trimmings, too.
Thanksgiving Day offers several options for the traditional turkey dinner. The Resort at Squaw Creek spreads the Thanksgiving dinner buffet 3-8 p.m. at Cascades Nov. 26. Those preferring to eat in their condos can dine on a Thanksgiving feast to-go.
Those romping on the slopes of Squaw on Thanksgiving Day may prefer eating their Thanksgiving dinner at High Camp. Take the Cable Car to 8,200 feet in elevation for a traditional turkey, stuffing, and potatoes meal served 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The dinner costs $27 for adults and $17 for children.
The celebrations continue on Friday, Nov. 27, with family activities at the Resort at Squaw Creek. The unveiling of the new Gingerbread Village and lighting ceremony takes place 5-8 p.m. Peggy Flemming and local children skate at the ice rink at 7 p.m. Sleigh rides begin at Porte Cochere 6-9 p.m.
The resort plans to begin operating their lifts for the season Nov. 21. Other activities include ice skating, cross-country skiing, snow tubing, and swimming in outdoor heated pools.
Reservations are highly recommended for Thanksgiving dinners and sleigh rides. The Resort at Squaw Creek also offers lodging packages.
