Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands plan on opening for the Thanksgiving holidays, weather permitting. Both resorts had one of their earliest openings in more than a dozen years last season, and this fall, so far, has been much colder.  It bodes well for an early opening.

Boyne is currently offering a $96 lift and lodging special, which is available through the Thanksgiving holidays.  The price, per person based on double occupancy, includes overnight lodging, breakfast, and an unlimited lift ticket that's good for a day of skiing or riding at both the Mountain and Highlands.  Children eight and under sleep, ski, and eat breakfast free when staying with an adult and juniors (9-15) start at $21 as an add-on. The same package is available from $113 per adult person weekends.

This season brings the addition of zipline adventures at both resorts, a new terrain park and winter horseback riding at the Highlands, and an expanded children's center at the Mountain.  The new ziplines, ranging from 200 to 500 feet, will thrill adventure seekers as they soar along five sections through trees and over open valleys.

The horseback rides, started a couple of summers ago at the Highlands, have now expanded for winter trail rides.  The resort, with over 4,000 acres, provides an ideal setting for getting away on a scenic trail ride where you are likely to spot some deer in the quiet, snow covered forest.  A new terrain park, near the intermediate Amy's run, will offer small to medium features as a step-up park to bigger terrain features.

The children's Snowsports Learning Center at the Mountain is being expanded to include more terrain, a kiddy carousel and new location for the kid's Magic Carpet conveyor.  The expanded area is conveniently located near Helga's House, the resort's daycare center and where junior Snowsports Academy lessons are offered.  It will make dropping off the little ones a whole lot easier without multiple locations to search for.
