You'll keep busy at Crested Butte over Thanksgiving, with the 8th Annual Thanksgiving Training Camp at the Crested Butte Nordic Center. Skate skiing and classical skiing clinics are offered for various experience levels with former Olympians as instructors. The event includes a silent auction and Nordic dinner, skate clinic for those over 50, wax clinics, backcountry avalanche awareness classes, and ski and skate races. Dates are Nov. 27-29.
Just after Thanksgiving is the Light Up Night & Holiday parade through downtown Crested Butte Dec. 5. Another big event scheduled for after Thanksgiving is Rock on Ice, which returns Dec. 18-21.
Crested Butte is scheduled to open Wednesday, Nov. 25. A special lodging package is being offered for the Thanksgiving holidays through mid December. A Stay & Ski Free package is available for guests booking lodging with Crested Butte Vacations. Stay at any of their properties at Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) and you can get an adult group half-day lesson for free. The package includes a one-day lift ticket per person per night on the reservation. The price is based upon double occupancy with some rules and regulations and on availability. The deal is good beginning Nov. 26 through Dec. 16.
