Continental Airlines has announced it will again add wintertime service between Newark Liberty Airport and Tremblant International Airport near the Quebec ski resort town of Mont Tremblant.

The service will be operated by Continental Connection partner Comutair, which will fly a total of 53 flights this winter season on 37-seat Bombardier Q-200 turbo-props.

The carrier will operate four round-trip flights a week, one each on Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday from Dec. 17 through Dec. 31 and again from Feb. 6 through March 28.

The flights will drop to three round trips a week on Monday, Thursday, and Sunday from Jan. 1 through Feb. 5.

An alternative: fly to Montreal. Tremblant is approximately 1.5 hours from the Montreal International Airport. Take Autoroute 15 North to Ste. Agathe, then merge with Autoroute 117 North, and follow the signs to Tremblant. Buses from the airport and downtown Montreal depart for Tremblant on a scheduled basis. Rental cars are available at the airport. A rental car is recommended because the autoroutes are easy to drive, and the scenery is breathtaking, especially the charming Valley of Sainte-Sauveur, just south of Tremblant.

Tremblant is the major ski resort in Eastern Canada, offering 95 runs served by 14 state-of-the-art lifts, dominating the countryside north of Montreal. Tremblant also offers 30 acres of snow park with ramps, rails, and jumps as well as an Olympic-calibre super pipe.
