Virginia's Massanutten is greeting the new season with a new lift, discounted season passes, and early reservations on its popular Slope Sliders program for kids. A Dopplemeyer CTEC quad has replaced a double chair installed in front of the lodge in 1972. The loading area is closer to the lodge making it easier for guests to access the lift. A new trail design makes it easier to access both the Geronimo and Southern Comfort trails.
The resort is offering 10 percent off its $425 adult and $350 student unlimited season pass rates until Nov. 30. The Value Pass allows for skiing and snowboarding Sunday - Friday (non-holiday) and night use of the slopes. It sells for $199. Value tickets also are good from opening day to Dec. 25 and from March 1, 2010 to closing day.
November marks the opening of registration for Slope Sliders. The qualifying age range for skiers is 4 - 12 years old and 7 - 12 years old for snowboarders. The program offers an eight-hour lift ticket, rentals, lunch, and instruction from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Costs are $90 Monday -Friday with rentals and $85 without rentals. Saturday, Sunday, and holiday prices are $115 with rentals and $110 without rentals. Holidays are Dec. 25, 2009 - Jan. 1, 2010; Jan. 16 - 18; and Feb. 13 - 15.
