Mount Snow Owner A Fan Of Fan Guns

Dave Reading, mountain operations manager at Mount Snow, couldn't wait for the Vermont winter to fire up a few of his 101 new fan guns, 75 of them tower-mounted and 26 on mobile platforms. The fan guns, made by Snow Machines Inc., are desirable for many reasons. Peak Resorts President,Tim Boyd said the fan guns are the most efficient snowmaking technology on the market in terms of energy use. They make the best and driest snow, which can be skied on or groomed immediately. They throw snow farther and can cover wider trails edge to edge. The area's $10 million plan to secure ample water from nearby Somerset Reservoir for snowmaking is working through a complex permit process involving state and federal agencies and the Vermont Land Trust. Somerset water would be available for the 2008-09 season if all goes as Mount Snow would like.
