Shawnee Mountain in Pennsylvania has announced its Ski Miser discounts. Purchases must be made by Dec. 24. The Miser plan offers five non-holiday midweek lift tickets from open to close during a day or a night session for $120. Add ski or snowboard rentals and the cost is $185.

The Maxi Miser plan offers three lift tickets that can be used any day including weekends and holidays. The cost is $155 with a ski or snowboard rental.

A three-day learn to ski or snowboard package costs $188 per person and comes with lessons, lift tickets, and rentals. New rental equipment particularly for beginners is art of a $1 million capital improvement program at Shawnee for the 2009-10 season. The resort purchased 1,000 pairs of Flow snowboard boot and binding systems, 500 Elan skis with Salomon bindings and 170 new Carr era and Burton helmets.

The Tubing Five Timer deal can save money midweek. Five two-hour non-holiday sessions costs $80.  The Miser, Maxi Miser, and Tubing 5 Timer plans are trasferable amiong family members only.   

The capital improvements also included upgrades to the resort terrain parks and a new locker system. Rather than using keys, the Go Pod lockers are programmed with a key pad and accessed through a kiosk that accepts cash, credit cards, or can be pre-paid. Lockers are available continuously throughout the day.

Season pass discounts still are available until Nov. 20.
