The La Ferme building was destroyed in a fire on June 24, but Group Le Massif says its work schedule is still intact. Initial construction -- for a hotel -- begins in Baie-Saint-Paul, but instead of a renovation, the fire means the group is constructing from the ground up. The project includes the 150-room hotel, gardens, greenhouses, a rail station, a market, and public areas. "After analyzing the situation, we believe that, despite everything, we can stick to our original schedule and be able to deliver the new buildings by the summer of 2009, as planned," said Daniel Gauthier, chairman and chief executive officer of Groupe Le Massif. "For this reason, we will be moving ahead as quickly as possible with the call-for-bids process so that we can start construction this fall."
