Everyone is chillin' at Arapahoe Basin with epic early season cold temperatures, perfect for snowmaking. The Summit County resort got a jump on the season by opening Oct. 9, the earliest opening in its history. The mountain was just two days behind Loveland, which is on the other side of Loveland Pass.
More than 1,500 people took to the slopes that first day, with only Exhibition chair open, the High Noon run, and four features in the High Divide Terrain Park. A-Basin's Leigh Hierholzer told OnTheSnow.com, "The snow is unbelievable because of the cold weather. Everyone is talking about how creamy the snow is."
She adds, "There were almost more people in line for the Mug Club in the bar than at the lift." The Mugs are purchased for $40, and hang above the bar. Patrons can keep them there for the season, getting them filled with $1 beers.
The A-Basin Bonus Pass is $349 and it gives passholders unlimited, unrestricted access to A-Basin for the entire season, plus five bonus days that can be used at four other Colorado Resorts (some restrictions may apply). A few other benefits include food, beverage, and retail discounts, as well as discounted ski tunes and lift tickets for friends and family.
