Cordillera is on the outskirts of Vail and offers entertaining options, during the day or at night. The action starts at the Cordillera Nordic & Snowshoe Center which offers snowshoe tours, ski lessons, equipment rentals, winter clothing and gear. The course at Cordillera includes 10 kilometers of groomed Nordic and skate-ski track as well as miles of single-track and groomed snowshoe trails. The sledding hill is free for everyone.

Take an evening snowshoe tour (Tuesday-Saturday) under the stars and then enjoy dinner at the Timber Hearth Grille. The cost is $120/person for the tour, rentals, headlamps, and dinner. Drinks, tax, and gratuity are not included. Reservations are required.

Snowshoe and ski lessons, and tours are available throughout the Cordillera property and the Vail Valley.

The Cordillera Simple Charity Snowshoe Series is on Monday evenings, closest to the full moon. It includes chili, brownies, hot cocoa, and a cash bar, for $25 per event.

Another evening option is the horse-drawn sleigh rides and dinner, offered through the Timber Hearth Grille and Bearcat Stables. Sip on hot chocolate or apple cider while relaxing on the sleigh, being pulled by world-class Belgian horse teams through the frosty Colorado snow. Dinner rides are optional. Groups are welcomed. Bearcat Stables also offers a four-day horseback pack trip from Vail to Aspen.

Sleigh rides begin as soon as there is enough snow on the ground to accommodate the sleigh. Things are usually going full swing no later than Dec. 4.
