Espace Diamant is getting a facelift this year with several new lift installations destined to improve its skiing experience. The ski area, with 185 kilometres of pistes, is a veritable Alpine playground, linking five resort villages: Les Saisies/Hauteluce, Crest-Voland Cohennoz, Notre Dame de Bellecombe, Flumet, and Praz sur Arly.
This year, the lifts are being updated to respond to the growing number of visitors to the area. At Praz sur Arly, the new detachable lift, the 'Crest du Midi', is the biggest lift ever built in France, measuring 2329 metres. With its six seats, it can carry up to 2500 skiers per hour.
At Cernix, in the Crest-Voland Cohnennoz resort, another new detachable lift carries skiers to the summit of Lachat, 700 metres above, in seven minutes. Passengers will hardly have the time to notice the armada of snow cannons below, reinforced this year with several new cannons. In all, the resort has installed 58 new canons beneath the Cernix and la Logère lifts, as well as on the Tovats and Prarian snow fronts.
Yet another detachable six-seater will be dotting the landscape of Notre Dame de Bellecombe. This new installation near the Mont Rond pistes offers a higher carrying capacity up to the summit, where snow cannons guarantee optimal powder cover all season long. Down below, a new welcome centre facilitates clients' access to the resorts varied services.
Back at the top of the Mont Rond, it will now be possible to take the direct link to the rest of the Espace Diamant area, as the link is being rehabilitated this year.
