Intrawest will encourage all skiers and snowboarders at its North American resorts to wear helmets this season, and will require some to do so. The group's Eastern resorts are Mountain Creek, NJ; Snowshoe Mountain, W. Va.; Stratton Mountain, Vt.; and Mt. Tremblant in Quebec.

The company has put in place a helmet policy that requires all children and youth in Ski and Snowboard School wear helmets. The policy also requires helmets for all students in freestyle terrain park programs, regardless of age.

Intrawest has removed the opt-out clause from all children's waivers for Ski and Snowboard School and freestyle terrain park programs, by which parents and guardians were formerly able to enroll students without helmets.

Intrawest is including helmets in all children and youth ski and snowboard rental packages.

The company also will require employees to wear a helmet at all times while skiing or snowboarding on-duty in any freestyle terrain park.

Staff at Intrawest's Ski and Snowboard Schools will be required to wear helmets if they serve as a guide or instructor for any program that requires resort guests to wear helmets.
