Waterville Valley has increased its snowmaking arsenal by 40 new low-energy tower guns, and added a new Prinoth 350 Snow Cat to its fleet of groomers. The projects cost more than $600,000 and skiers and riders should see that snow pile up earlier and be groomed just right.

Waterville added the tower guns on White Caps and the Chute to pump up snowmaking capacity and capability in early season. The high-efficiency guns give the resort greater ability to make snow in the marginal temperatures of early season.

The new snow cat will be used in Waterville's nightly grooming operations and park maintenance.

Other improvements over the summer include new rails and boxes in Exhibition Park, created by Luke Mathison. They join Waterville's existing features, including the Oakley Hubba and Fuel-TV Skateledge.

Waterville has added online rentals so skiers and riders can make their equipment reservations online 48 hours in advance of arrival. The resort is continuing its $10 online discount for lift tickets purchased 48 hours in advance.

A new Sport Thoma Retail Accessories Shop will open on the main floor of the base lodge, next to Everything Waterville, and will sell hand warmers, goggles, gloves and hats.

The Waterville Valley Snowboard Rental Shop has updated snowboard set-up stations.
