The 2010 Sundance Film Festival will take place Jan. 21-31, 2010, with screenings and events in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Sundance, Utah. The colorful independent film event leaves Hollywood A-List attendees chomping at the bit to be first in line for access to what they think will be the next Big Lebowski. 

Actual purchases of passes and packages occurs in late October and the registration to even be able purchase these has closed. The leftovers go on sale Nov. 17.  You must first register online anytime between Nov. 17 and Dec. 11, 2009 in order to purchase an advance individual ticket. You will receive an e-mail Dec. 16, 2009 after registration closes indicating whether you were randomly selected to receive a half-hour time slot to go buy your tickets.

You will be sent the Web site link if you receive a time slot which you can use to purchase your Advance Individual Tickets. Quantities are very limited and registration does not guarantee a time slot or availability. Purchase dates and times are randomly assigned by a computer. You might have a chance at a day-of ticket or you could get yourself on the wait list if all else fails and you still plan to attend Sundance. The problem with waiting until the last minute, however, is that you might be left out in the cold. Literally.

Sundance is the premier showcase for U.S. and international independent filmmakers, showcasing dramatic and documentary feature-length films from emerging and established artists, innovative short films, filmmaker forums and panels, live music performances ranging from solo acts to film composer events, cutting-edge media installations, and engaging community and student programs. The best part if you're a skier is that despite the traffic in town, there's not many people on the hill. You can have the resort to yourself during the day, then catch an avant-garde flick at night whether you stay at Sundance Resort, in Park City, or Salt Lake City.
