Timberline and Mt. Hood Skibowl, the two closest ski resorts to Portland, have teamed up with a dual mountain season pass - the Mt. Hood Fusion Pass. The pass gives lift access for skiing or riding at both resorts, beginning with Timberline's early fall opening and ending with its late season finish.

The Fusion Pass is valid for unlimited use at both resorts with no blackout dates. Passholders also get additional perks: 10 percent discounts on lessons, rentals, quick tunes, snowmobile tours, snowshoe rentals and tours, cross-country rentals and tours, and retail merchandise.

The passes-available for adults, seniors, juniors, and teens-are on sale through Oct. 31 with all age groups discounted by $126. They can be purchased online or in person at the resorts or on weekends at Portland area REI stores.

The passes increase by $26 for the second sale, which runs Nov. 1-8. The passes will be available for purchase at the Portland Ski Fever and Snowboard Show Nov. 6-8 at the Portland Expo Center.

The Fusion Pass usually grants skiing or riding October through May, due to Timberline's extended season on the Palmer Snowfield. Conditions this fall, however, have prompted Timberline to hold off on its planned opening of Oct. 2 to wait for more snow.
