This year, the National Snow and Mountain Fair is again opening its doors at Super Besse from 23-25 Oct. For the third year running, the fair has taken on new dimensions, with over 70 participants spread over 2000 square metres.

This event is a must for both mountain professionals and the mountain-loving public and presents a remarkable overview of the development of the resorts in France's Massif Central.

To begin the festivities, the general assembly of the National Union of French Lifts' Massif Central section will take place Oct. 13, with 14 resorts present. Then, the fair kicks off a programme packed with activities revolving around the 500-square-metre piste set up at the heart of the resort, a village showcasing various mountain trades, and introductions to different summer and winter activities.

During the three days, visitors will have the chance to rediscover classic mountain activities such as rock climbing, go carts, and sledding-on the snow, on tracks, and even off-road. For the 2009 edition, the fair is also making way for more innovative activities like the snowscoot, biboard, and speed'elstar. Guests can also try their hand at biathlon laser shooting and on Sunday, driving on slippery surfaces.

The public can also watch mountain biking and quadrix (a four-wheeled bicycle) demonstrations by the French School of Bicycle Instructors, shows by the French Ski School instructors and the Mountain Gendarme squad, as well as a snowkite demonstration.

Entrance to the fair is free.
