Freshtival, Calgary's freeski film festival, premieres the top ten newest ski movies of the season. The three-day event piles on films, appearances by freeskiing superstars, and prizes.

The film festival, which runs Oct. 15-17 at Calgary's Uptown Theatre, features three of the big ski and snowboard films touring this fall: Matchstick Productions' IN DEEP, Poorboyz Productions' Everyday is a Saturday, and Teton Gravity Research's Re:Session. Seven other films will also be shown.

Freshtival also brings in several big names of freeskiing: Mike Douglas, Eric Pollard, JP Auclair, Sean Petit, Kye Petersen, Callum Petit, Mike Henetiuk, Mark Abma, Rory Bushfield, and Chris Rubens.

Tickets, which run $5-13 CAD depending on the film, are available at Fresh Sports, the organizer of the event. Evening shows are scheduled for Thursday and Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m., while Saturday films start at 1 p.m.

Prizes include lift tickets, goggles, helmets, jackets, and skis. Sponsors of the event include Salomon, Rossignol, Line, Oakley, Orage, The North Face, Helly Hansen, Smith, Giro, Lake Louise Ski Area, RCR/Fernie Alpine Resort, and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.
