Timberline Resort in West Virginia unveils a new European-style slope side 20-room lodge this winter steps away from its longest-running triple chairlift at the base of the mountain. The hotel overlooks the Winterset trails. Each room contains two queen size beds, a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, internet access and a flat screen TV. It offers the only direct slope side accommodations in the Canaan Valley region that also encompasses the Canaan Valley Resort.
The lodge features a restaurant, pub, rental shop, and ski school. A conference facility is available for corporate or private events.
Ski and Stay packages can be tailored to one's taste and a two-night minimum is required. Standard rates are $149 per night midweek, $169 per night on weekends, and $179 per night on holidays during prime season. Rates are $209 midweek, $249 weekends, and $259 holidays for rooms with a Jacuzzi tub and a balcony overlooking the slopes. Rooms sleep up to four. Family-style suites also are available.
Timberline has improved its water capacity by gaining permission to tap into the Blackwater River. Resort operators made the move to upgrade snowmaking operations. They also installed additional lights on ithe White Lightning slope.
