Both Silver Star Mountain Resort, and Big White Ski Resort in British Columbia have frozen prices for their season passes at last year's rates. Their sale with the biggest discounts ran from last spring into September, but the fall sale, which goes from Sept. 21 to Oct. 31, still keeps prices lower than regular rates.

Season passes rates are identical at both resorts. Adult passes, for instance, cost $830 CAD. The fall sale rate runs $230 lower than the regular winter rate, which starts up on Nov. 1. Families of four can get discounts that knock about $150 off the fall sale rate.

An extra $25 can also add a refundable option to a pass. Season passes are non-refundable except when a refundable option is purchased concurrently with a season pass.

The option allows passholders who suffer an injury or illness which prevents skiing or snowboarding to be reimbursed for a percentage of the season pass based on the time of year.

Other add-ons are available, too. The dual mountain pass option, which will be paid off in two visits to the other resort, offers the benefits of 26 total lifts between the two mountains. Other add-ons include a Nordic pass, tubing and skating pass, and a bus pass.

Season passes are available by phone, online, or in person at the Kelowna office. The office is open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
