Jackson Hole Mountain Resort locals developed an iPhone application that will be available for skiers and riders this winter. JH Tapped LLC designed the application exclusively for the resort, and it will work with Jackson Hole's winter trail map.

The application uses the iPhone's built-in GPS technology. It locates the iPhone user by pinpointing his or her location on the ski resort's trail map rather than a topographical or satellite map. The application also records the user's runs and vertical feet traveled.

The application is also designed to provide current weather and snow conditions, resort Webcam views, and real-time lift status information. It also includes a built-in directory for Teton Village services and amenities.

JH Tapped was conceived and developed by Dan and Ingrid Miller, Jackson Hole locals and resort employees. "We have taken full advantage of the iPhone's capabilities," said Dan Miller. "I think people will be impressed by the app's features."

A free preview version will be available the iPhone Application Store. The complete version - JH Tapped 2010 - will be available in early November. It will also include an interface for uploading logs to Facebook, and the enhanced location capabilities will use the iPhone's built-in compass to display the direction the user is facing or traveling.
