Font Romeu, in the Pyrenees Orientales department, has added a new amusement zone (l'espace ludique) to its ski area where children and beginners can get their first taste of snowy pleasure. This new area covers 20 hectares specially dedicated to new skiers and snowboarders.
For the youngest skiers, but also for the amusement of their parents, two themed runs have been set up. On these very gentle pistes, families can discover the animals of the Pyrenees or the lifestyle of the Inuits. Children and parents can even play together at basketball, snow balls, and other snow games to develop their sense of balance on a pair of skis all the while having fun.
This amusement zone includes six secure green runs to let beginners learn in a safe environment. The resort also organises activities all winter long for children. Music groups and friendly competitions between families set the tone for successful family holidays under the Pyrenees sun.
The area is also equipped with two free lifts: the "Airelles" baby drag lift and a magic carpet lift of the same name. There are also two other drag lifts plus a sled zone with one piste.
A dual slalom and bordercross complete the ensemble, where beginners can have fun with their friends and family members. For extra comfort, the resort has installed heated locker rooms with two- to five-person lockers which work with a magnetic card.
