Skiers and snowboarders in the market to buy or sell used equipment can do so at the 9th Annual Great Outdoors Festival at Whitetail Resort in Pennsylvania, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Oct, 24 - 25. The swap is a key part of the weekend's activities although ticket purchases for the festival are not required for the swap.

The festival is a good opportunity to pick up the resort's Advantage Card allowing for discounts on lift tickets and the $399 season pass before the Oct. 31 best value deadline. Those who purchase a season pass or renew from the previous year can attend the festival free. So can children five and under. Otherwise, the cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 6 - 12.

There is no charge for the swap-only which is being held in the Windows section of Whitetail's base lodge. Equipment for sale should be dropped off a week in advance or no later than 8 a.m. Saturday Swap hours are the same as the festival.

Co-director of the festival and swap Melissa McFadden says that "most people come for both the swap and the festival." She expects about 3,000 children and adults.

There's more. The Great Outdoors Festival/Ski and Snowboard Swap actually kicks off Friday, Oct. 23 with a new event. It's a golf tournament where duffers have a chance to win a season pass. Additional giveaways inlcude the Advanage Card and assortes ski and snowboard merchandise.
