Zell am See-Kaprun will host its 31st BP Gas Balloon Trophy event Jan. 23 - 30, 2010. Hundreds of spectators will flock to the area to watch as numerous, colourful hot-air balloons rise up into the skies above the town.
The Zell am See Tourist Office says: "For the 31st time, more than 30 balloonist teams are starting in the BP Gas Balloon Trophy to show what they can do with their multi-coloured spheres in the sky."
The best balloonists will compete against each other in several contests. The Nights of the Glowing Baloons is the visual highlight and will begin when the day draws to a close. There is also an entertaining supporting programme with activities for children and a wide choice of food and drink throughout the day.
The extensive ski area of Zell am See-Kaprun offers 138 kilometres of downhill runs divided into 57 pistes of varying difficulty. There are three snowparks for boarders on Kitzsteinhorn; the Mellow Park sits at 3203 metres and features a six-metre-high superpipe.
Zell am See-Kaprun also boasts a well-prepared network of more than 200 kilometres of trails for the fans of cross-country skiing. The trails stretch as far as the eye can see, winding their way through Zell am See-Kparun and into the neighbouring regions.
