You can dine after skiing this winter at Whistler Blackcomb on the fare of a "Hell's Kitchen" winner. This season's grand prize for the popular reality series is a head chef position at Whistler's Araxi Restaurant.

The FOX television series pits aspiring chefs against each other under the searing scrutiny of Chef Gordon Ramsay as they vie to be the one remaining chef standing at the end of the show. This season's winner will work under Araxi's Executive Chef James Walt at Whistler Blackcomb during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Whistler Blackcomb was showcased to the remaining chefs on the episode that aired in late September, allowing the contestants to see the restaurant on a satellite tour and drool over scenic footage shot earlier at the resort when Chef Ramsay visited to film a teaser. The episode required the chefs to use 15 local ingredients to create three entrées. The ingredients were selected by Chef Walt and flown in from Whistler. Guest judges for the challenge included Olympians Sasha Cohen and Jonny Moseley.

The finale, which takes place at Araxi, will be aired Tuesday, Oct. 13. It will feature Chef Walt, Chef Ramsay, and the Hell's Kitchen contestants.

Araxi is known for its "locavore" dining, using fresh, regional ingredients from nearby farms and fisheries for its menu. The restaurant features seasonally rotating menus with a raw seafood bar, entrees of British Columbia halibut and wild salmon, local and international cheeses, and a wine selection that frequently wins "Wine Spectator" awards of excellence. Four-course tasting menus are also available with products selected from within a 100-mile radius of the resort.

Chef Walt also recently published a new cookbook, "Araxi: Seasonal Recipes from the Celebrated Whistler Restaurant." Araxi is one of 100 resort restaurants and bars you can visit while skiing or snowboarding at Whistler Blackcomb.
