Villars will celebrate the opening of the ski season over the weekend Dec. 12-13 with a host of special offers.
Children under nine years will enjoy free lift passes as they do here all season, but in addition they will receive free ski school lessons, free ski rental, and even eat the daily special meal in any of the mountain restaurants at lunchtime.
Similar discounts will be on offer for teenagers and even adults will receive a special price of only CHF10-20 for each of those services during the resort's opening weekend.
Located on a sunny, south-west facing plateau above the Rhone, Villars has been a famous health resort for many years. Visitors have been arriving by rail in large numbers since the start of the twentieth century. The village's importance was secured with the decision to stop the Orient Express in the area en route through the Simplon Pass in to Italy.
Today the resort of Villars continues to stress both its family-friendly skiing credentials and good value in its accommodation, resort facilities, and on the slopes.
Villars offers access to more than 120 kilometres of varied pistes, offering something for everyone from trails for children with a moving carpet, carrousel and rope tow, to expert trails and a snowpark on the Chaux-Ronde trail.
