The traditional Advent Market will return to Schladming this December, filling the town centre with Christmas songs, glittering lights, and the smell of spices.

Families can experience the Christmas Forest, complete with 1000 glitter balls and stars, Christmas cookies, hot punch for kids, and mulled wine for adults.

There is also a nativity play with living animals in the stable of Bethlehem. Those looking for last-minute Christmas gifts can browse the huts in the market.

The Schladming Advent Market is open 3-9 p.m, Dec. 3 to 8, 10 to 13, and 17 to 23. When the Advent Market is over, the Christmas Market opens 3-9 p.m, Dec. 26-30.

The Schladming-Dachstein ski area is comprised of five ski regions with 860 kilometres of slopes served by 270 lifts. In 2008, Schladming was selected to organise the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2013. The resort also offers a lively après-ski scene with plenty of cafes, restaurants, bars, and shops.

The region is regarded as the most pioneering snowboard area in the Eastern Alps; snowboarders flock to the Burton Superpark on the Dachstein Glacier with its halfpipe, kickers, corners, and rails. The resort also hosts the Pleasure Jam freestyle competition in the Atomic Superpark.
