Shanty Creek, with its three villages and two ski hills, offers a very European-like setting. The villages are all connected by trail systems and serviced by a very reliable transportation system. It's easy to get around and enjoy a great variety of terrain and scenery. The Summit Lodge, recently renovated, overlooks Lake Bellaire and the village of Mancelona.
Season passes are as low as they are going to get through Oct. 15. An individual adult pass is $249, a youth (9-17) is $219, seniors (62-69) are $199, and a Super Senior Pass (70+) and a Child Pass (8 and under) is only $29. All except the Super Senior and Child passes will go up another $40 Oct. 16.
A Sunday Only Pass is $129 and valid for all Sundays the resort is open, including holidays. Sunday hours of operation throughout the season are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
An additional benefit for passholders is a 10-percent resort wide discount on lodging, dining, fitness center/spa, retail, snowsports tickets, and lessons. You also can purchase a full day lift ticket at Caberfae Peaks near Cadillac, Sunday-Friday, for just $9, and on Saturdays and holidays for $19. The season pass also entitles you to a 50-percent discount on lift tickets at Apple Mountain, Swiss Valley, and Timber Ridge, all in southern Michigan.
