Saddleback has some new offerings for skiers and riders this winter, including Casablanca, a 44-acre tree run, and Family Secret, a new black diamond trail.
Casablanca is designed as a double black diamond glade, offering ungroomed inbound skiing and riding for experts, with chutes, steeps, tight lines, and cruising in some open areas.
Saddleback CEO Warren Cook said, "Our latest improvements are designed to capitalize on what makes Saddleback different from other mountains in Maine. The new glade at Saddleback will draw people to the mountain who are eager to get off the groomed trails and experience a high alpine adventure unlike any other in the East. The terrain and the beauty, complemented by our Saddleback Guest Service, will create an unforgettable experience."
Saddleback also has added two new snow groomers and tillers to the grooming fleet, one of them a Winch Cat. The resort also is making some improvements to its snowmaking system.
Saddleback Realty is completing 12 on-mountain condominiums as part of the new South Branch project. The condos offer wood frame construction with wood shingle siding, with scenic views of the mountains.
A new chairlift and an expanded base lodge are on the drawing board for next season.
