Searchmont Resort is big time skiing and riding for the upper Midwest.  Located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, just above the U.S. border, it offers a 750-foot vertical drop and 18 mountain trails; nearly half of them at least a kilometer or longer. 

Season passholders can save $50 off regular season prices and even spread out payments up to mid-December as long as they purchase the pass by Oct. 4.  Season passes for adults (18-64) are $479 prior to that date.  The price will be $529 after that.  Youth (13-17) passes are $349, juniors (6-12) are $299, and seniors (65+) are $379 prior to that date.  They  also will go up by $50 Oct. 5.  Children five and under ski and ride free. 

New this season is a $99 Powder Pass for adults, which is perfect for occasional snowsports enthusiasts.  It entitles you to a free lift ticket the first time out for the upcoming season. You receive 40-percent off lift tickets and rental packages after that every Wednesday and Thursday throughout the season, 25-percent off  Fridays and Sundays, and 10-percent off Saturday. 

The Powder Pass is $69 for youth and seniors and juniors are $59. It's one of the few Heartland areas where you will feel that delicious thigh burn after a few runs, which means long, exhilarating runs; no long run-outs here.  It is solid skiing and riding from top to bottom, and there are glades in between some of the advanced runs.

Searchmont will be open  Wednesday through Sunday only every week except for a few selected times when they will also open Monday and Tuesday; Christmas break, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, and March break (March 15-16).
