Les Menuires and Saint Martin de Belleville offer skiers the opportunity to book a satisfied-or-your-money-back holiday. 2009/2010 will be the the third season that the French resort offers to reimburse holiday-makers who aren't happy with the snow coverage.
Disappointed visitors can leave Les Menuires if less than 80 percent of the pistes are closed due to lack of snow. They can then ask for reimbursement of the remainder of their ski pass and accommodation.
How can a ski resort guarantee snow? Les Menuires and Saint Martin de Belleville have exceptional snow coverage, thanks in part to its pistes that reach up to 2850 metres in altitude. Also, 400 snow cannons cover 40 percent of the skiable areas, reinforcing the natural powder that settles on the pistes.
Artificial snow covers the two summits (2700 and 2850 metres) from the centre of the resort to the top of the pistes. This technology allows snow production to begin in November and carry on all season long whenever necessary.
To take advantage of the Contrat Neige Garantie, it is necessary to book accommodation or an all-inclusive package with one of the 15 participating hotels or residences. The reservations must be made either directly with host accommodation or through Les Menuires Reservations. For skiers who just want to "insure" their ski pass, it is necessary to make reservations through the resort's Web site.
Participating hotels and residences are listed in the Menuires/Saint Martin de Belleville brochure and on the Web site. Look for the Neige Garantie logo.
