Blue Mountain Resort, visited by more than 1.5 million guests a year, is big-time skiing and riding for southern Ontario.  The resort, nestled on the shores of Lake Huron's Georgian Bay, spans over 700 acres and offers 36 trails strung out along a two-and-a-half mile escarpment with a 720-foot vertical drop. Blue Mt. is popular with Toronto snowsports enthusiasts and also attracts skiers and riders from Buffalo, Detroit, and southern Michigan.

The resort has spent the summer giving its popular South Base Lodge a much needed facelift with an expansion and interior renovation. The improvements are designed to accommodate more seating and space for guests in an enhanced 980-seat dining area. 

The upper level Granary area has opened up to accommodate additional seating providing a warm retreat for lunch or après ski; especially welcome on those cold, blustery days when the wind is howling off the bay. The main level of the lodge features ski-in access to a brown bag mezzanine where you can enjoy a picnic anytime of day, and, of course, fresh food options. 

Summer grading on beginner terrain beside the lodge leveled out the Kid's Camp ski area to improve flow for new skiers and snowboarders, which is near the resort's Kids at Blue Childcare Centre where they start teaching children as young as two how to ski.
