The FIS World Cup Cross-Country skiing in Davos is set to draw the crowds once again this year when the prestigious event returns on the weekend of Dec. 12-13, 2009.

Davos is the only resort in Switzerland to be hosting this World Cup event. The international cross-country skiing elite, both men and women, will again line up at the starting point in Davos. The Bunda area in Davos Dorf is transformed in to a cross-country skiing stadium.

Top athletes will battle it out for World Cup points on the challenging run through the Fluela Valley. The race triggers huge media interest and provides spectators with a unique spectacle amidst the breathtaking Graubunden mountain landscape.

Davos offers a total of 307 kilometres of pistes divided between 110 pistes, 80 percent of which are set above 2000 metres so enjoys reliable snowfall. The longest run ‘Weissfluhgipel-Kueblis' is 12 kilometres. Pistes are served by modern lifts which can transport up to 64,421 persons per hour.

Davos is particularly popular with snowboarders. The snowpark at Jatz Junior offers kickers, rails and the Nidecker monsterpipe and the snowpark on Bolgen has another monsterpipe and is floodlit four evenings a week.

Other winter activities in Davos include cross-country skiing, tobogganing, ice skating, ice curling, ice hockey, and a wellness centre with a steam bath, sauna, whirlpool, and two solariums.
